Agape Presents has Joined the Campaign in spreading awareness about this often misunderstood, developmental disability. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a disorder that affects neurodevelopment, and by definition can present differently among individuals. It is consistent in social, behavioral, and communication impairments across the majority of cases. ASD, previously known as Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and Asperger’s syndrome, increased by 175% from 2011-2021 according to JAMA. 

Why is Awareness Important?

Signs of ASD develop in children by the time they are two years of age. While there is currently no cure for ASD yet, early treatment and/or intervention can greatly improve the development of a child diagnosed with the disorder, so much so that there are cases where it becomes undistinguishable in the child.  Therapies like Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and other early intervention services like social skills training and sensory intervention are some of the most common and effective forms of treatment for ASD.
